We’re delighted to be welcoming RTE’s Nationwide to Balbriggan, who are visiting the town as part of their Culture Night coverage, celebrating theatre, music, and all kinds of cultural gatherings. They will be visiting Balbriggan to explore what is one of Ireland’s finest new theatres, The Lark Concert Hall. Made possible through a generous act of philanthropy, no expense was spared in bringing this vision to life. The facility includes a concert hall, a music school and accommodation for visiting musicians. Reporter John Kilraine will be out and about on the night to capture the festivities. |

Ardgillan Castle will open its doors to visitors, who can explore the castle and meet the Ardgillan Collective of artists in residence at this prestigious heritage property. Fingal Arts Office is delighted to launch Evolving Landscapes, an exhibition featuring Laura Skehan, Louis Haugh, and Tadhg Kinsella, curated by Valeria Ceregini, which will run until 12 October. This exhibition offers a poignant reflection on the urgent need for climate action in the face of escalating ecological instability. Visitors can also enjoy poetry readings in the library and live music in the castle’s drawing room. *NOTE: A complimentary shuttle bus will leave the Bracken Court Hotel at 5pm and return to the main square at 7.30pm to ensure you get to experience all Balbriggan has to give this culture night. |

Their repertoire consists of well-known popular songs in their own Balbriggan gospel style. Under the expert tutelage of Musical Director Shane McVicker, their performance on Culture Night in Balbriggan Library promises to be a very memorable and enjoyable experience. |

Pottery Demonstration 5.00pm - 9.15pm At Touch Design Ceramics in Balbriggan, beautiful, functional pottery is crafted entirely by hand by Radek Zemlicka, a second-generation Czech potter who has continued his family’s craft in Ireland since 2005. Meet Radek in his pottery studio for a live demonstration of wheel-throwing, the traditional technique he uses to transform a ball of clay into a bowl, cup, or lighthouse! Take a guided tour of his pottery production process — from pugmill, to wheel, to kiln, to firing, to finished piece. Over the years, Radek has created many bespoke commissions, ranging from dinner services and tea sets to fairy houses, funeral urns, and even a miniature Taj Mahal! He is best known for his handmade catering supplies and, of course, his iconic lighthouses inspired by our built heritage. Your visit concludes with a tour of his finished works in the studio shop, along with the opportunity to learn about his pottery workshops. |
